I missed Downtown Food, too

Intergalactic Tacos are some of my fave food truck food.

And a 10-minute drive to Proper Pie is way better than the 40 it was from the old place.

Taco Tuesday, very rare

Man, I never get tacos here at the office, but when Taco Day falls in a Tuesday and I didn’t pack lunch this morning?

TACO TIME

Eleven City Bloody

Getting this Chicago trip started…wisely.

Late, late lunch.

A Foam Brewers IPA at Mekong is juuuuuust right.

Sunday Daiquiri

This summer we started making fresh strawberry daiquiris on Sunday afternoons.

They’re surprisingly delicious and you can’t beat fresh strawberries. We tried recapture a little bit of summer yesterday, and it was close.

It’s a simple recipe: 2 parts rum, 1 part lime juice, 3/4 part simple syrup. I blend it together with a small handful of ice (we’re not making slushies), and pour it over a glass of ice.

It’s nice.

Happy Turkeys, you guys.

It was delicious.

Weekend Getaway

Stole away to Nelson County, Va. with some of the tennis guys this weekend. We had one back over the summer, too, and it’s starting to feel like it could be a quarterly thing. That’s about as much of it as I can take.

We stayed up on the mountain at Wintergreen, but lucked into nice weather and played some tennis in the valley. Otherwise, it was eating and drinking. It’s a lovely place this time of year.

Don’t Look Back

Tacos and some cold ones on a dreary Saturday.

This counts as photogenic for tacos

Weird that taco day would be on a Monday, but I’m not one to fight a chance to hit up El Cap.

Sturdy Lad

One of the more recent signals of my slow decent into my dotage has been my enthusiastic stocking of bird feeders.

I say “bird feeders” but I’m mostly feeding this chubbinsky. He can still do most of the normal squirrel jumping and climbing, but he won’t be for long if he keeps this up.
